DRIVERS

The C-1 benefits from high quality drivers as do many good loudspeakers. What distinguishes the C-1 from other designs is its exceptional value.

For example, upper midrange and high frequencies are handled by the remarkable SEAS "Millennium" tweeter, more often used in a speaker system several times the C-1's price.

Designed and produced by Scandinavia's finest manufacturer, the Millennium combines a low-mass 1" treated fabric dome driven, powerful Neodymium magnets, and a voice coil damped by low-viscosity magnetic fluid.

The result? Precise, near-instant replication of even the smallest amplitude signal. Vanishingly low distortion. And power handling capabilities simply beyond the capabilities of lesser designs.

The two midrange-woofers are also remarkable in that they combine two seemingly disparate characteristics - the ability to move sufficient air to reproduce most musical fundamentals with the response speed to render upper bass and midrange accurately.

ENCLOSURE

As impressive as the bass/midrange driver is, the C-1 extends these advantages by using two of these advanced units in an isobaric configuration.

The first driver generates sound directly into the room while the second, housed in a separate sub-enclosure, effectively extends low frequency response, reduces distortion, increases output, and adds substantial power handling capacity to the entire system.

The C-1's enclosure is impressively inert and sets new standards for rigidity and reduced cabinet resonance. Constructed entirely of 1" thick MDF for optimum vibration damping, the enclosure is heavily braced and damped internally to guard against the tendency most speakers have to "sing along" with the source.

CROSSOVER

The C-1's crossover - the filters that divide a wide-range audio signal into separate segments to be sent to tweeter and woofers respectively - is made of the very best individual components - high-voltage polypropylene capacitors, precision film and foil bypass caps, air-core inductors, and tight tolerance resistors. It's fully balanced for minimal noise. And boasts steep slope filters that allow each driver to operate well within its optimum frequency range. Yet it is more phase coherent than minimalist "first order" crossovers.

DETAILS

The Chesky touch extends to even the smallest and seemingly insignificant.

Our speaker terminals, for instance, are unique. This connector tightly clamps either spade lugs or bare wire without the need for special tools or wrenches.

And the C-1 couples to the floor with spiked feet mounted on a special plinth base.

The C-1 is designed to let you hear every subtle shading from your favorite sources regardless of the electronics you prefer.

To that end, the C-1 presents an easy, non-reactive load to the amplifier of your choice. You can elect tubes - push-pull, triodes, pentodes, OTLs, even higher powered (20+ watts) single-ended triode gear. If your preferences run to solid state, the C-1 will complement competent designs and elevate the exquisite.
