An extraordinary performer does not easily remain unnoticed even if the musician in question got her inauspicious start pedaling her talents on the streets of New York. This unlikely venue though, became the very key to the enormous success Natasha now enjoys. One lucky day John Hammond, credited with discovering the greatest artists of our generation (Billie Holiday, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Bruce Springsteen, to name a few), caught her curbside act and the rest is history.

"Boy, can she sing! Her voice is right-on for this type of music, combining control with emotion--a breakthrough tension contrasting with firmly planted roots. I hear Carmen McRae, Janis, Etta, and Billie in her voice (captured magnificently by the recording). But she's no clone. Her voice is powerful, assured, distinctive--the voice of someone who has payed her dues."
